Granted, I am a youth, but anyone with half a brain can surely see that MTV these days just keeps enforcing materialism, judgementalism, immaturity, and just overall being completely shallow... agree or no?

I completely agree with you. I am 14, and I do watch MTV, but only for one show- Two-A-Days. I think the rest of MTV is pointless and actually unnecessary. Think about it, My Super Sweet 16, it's a show focused on spoiled rich kids who are getting every little thing that they want. They are always throwing hissy fits when they're not getting what they want, and they're parents are always giving in and giving it to them. The kids on the show are all of the kids who spend all of their time making people feel bad- just for a good time. Now, I basically have this idea jammed into my head (along with the rest of the world's youth) that a sweet 16 has to be this massive event that costs thousands and thousands of dollars, and anything less than having it at an awesome club with hip-hop preformers and belly dancers isn't a real sweet 16, its nothing special and basically pathetic. Also, Next- the show is ridiculous. The things that people do on that show are just promoting sex and that getting down and dirty is what you have to do to be cool, and to get the oppositte sex's attention. The way that some of those 'nexters' will treat the contestents when they get off the bus is so cruel. Just because someone is wearing something a little wacky, or they don't have a butt to grab onto, the person will treat them like dirt and "next" them. The show encourages materialism, judgementalism, immaturity, and being shallow. Your opinion on MTV is completely accurate. (If only more people thought this way.)
P.S. My dad works for a cable company, and they did a study/survive, and they proved that girls who watch MTV are highly more likely to become young mothers. What does that say about MTV?

I agree. I mean to have a show like "I Want a Famous Face" and "My Super Sweet 16" just teaches our youth if you have a regular life your not chic or hip. Its like brainwashing. A friend of mines daughter threw a tantrum because my friend couldn't afford the type of sweet 16 party that she saw on the show. I guess they want a generation of Paris Hiltons. And that goes for the guys too.....

Oh yes. I watch a couple of shows but most are so stupid. I'm glad I'm not a teenager now...I'd feel really insecure knowing my life is NOTHING like those on the shows. Remember Rock the VOte and those things from the 80's!? Oh how times have changed.

Destroying our youthful human beings? no longer of project in hell. check out the types, and u.s.'s youthful human beings has declined each decade for almost a century. MTV has purely been around for sort of 25 years. clarify that one. And in order that we are sparkling...the "trash" that MTV reflects IS ordinary. human beings basically ought to open their eyes and notice it.
