you become cynical when you start to believe your actions mean nothing. When you always maintain the belief that you can make a difference through just an 'insignificant' act you remain hopeful that something better can happen in the future.
Behaving any other way objectifies yourself; de-humanizes you; makes less proactive and more like a robot.
