it could be faulty, it happens as they are mass preduced there will be the odd one that gets though quality control so my advise is to take it back.
i have seen smoke alarms that are plugged into the light socket and you then plug your light bulb into the alarm at least you dont have to worry about batteries i have seem then in woolworths but there should be other stores that will stock then

Some smoke detectors not only detect smoke now but also carbon monoxide. You may have a high level of carbon monoxide in the house. Or could be that there is a reset button you have to hit to get it to go off. Or lastly, may just be a faulty unit.

Faulty battery and mains connection problem possibly. Or just a faulty alarm.

the wiring needs testing, that is where i would start, that is the only common point from old alarm to new alarm..
if you start to loose your sanity squidge bluetack into the beep hole inside the alarm,,,
but do get it looked at by a qualified electrician..

Just get another one. Eventually I think microscopic particles get in the works and cause it to beep.

Sometimes you get a faulty unit. I've just taken one down that went off when my wife made toast (not burnt). Toast alarm, whatever next?

I had this problem too... you know what i did.... i ripped them off the bloody ceiling and covered it with a battery operated one..... mine were all mains too... and all three of them on every floor keep blipping... 24 hours a day....
I intend to replace them with mains ones again... but I couldn't figure out what was wrong with them.

well i would get someone to look at it then cause something is wrong. or you can take care of it yourself and smash it. that's what i would have done by now cause i hate beeping noises.

could be a dodgy battery or a dodgy sensor. you could try cleaning the sensor with a vacuum cleaner but if that doesnt work get it replaced as soon as possible.
