Understanding, compromising, love, trust, validation, same interest. I have been married for 13 years and I love my husband more today than I did when we were 20. We have 4 kids and of course we get into the day to day and sometimes fight, yell and hate each, to some degree but for the most part, I wouldn't want anything different. Now, when we get some alone time, we are just like we just met and can't keep our hands off of each other. In a week and a half, we will be going on a cruise for a week. We are aware of the fact that we need a vacation with just the 2 of us--away from kids, school, work, house chores, phones, etc...

The married couple will likely face many obstacles over the course of the marriage. How they deal with those issues is the key. Respect for each other tops the list. Living their lives together and sharing the experiences is also important. Couples that "go their own way" don't have as good a chance to overcome the problems. A lot of problems start with lack of respect and sharing. The rest are pretty easy to overcome.

My wife and I have been married 23 years, and it lasts because:
1. We love each other.
2. We work thru our problems together.
3. Don't hold a grudge, let things go.
4. COMMUNICATION, more than anything you must talk it out.
5. She is always right.........lol, j/k.

Honesty, trust, good communication, respect, treating eachother equally, doing nice things for eachother, knowing it won't always be easy and sticking with it no matter what. And most importantly, with God's help.
