you have to let them get sober on their own. You cannot be there for them to lean on...if you are they will never stand up on their own. The only way they will recover from their addiction is through their own self will. It's very hard, but sit them down when they are sober and explain it. Good luck.

There is an amazing book called Codependent no more; How to stop controlling others and start caring for yourself. The author is Melody Beattie. It's available through Amazon.com. I've read this book and it helped me tremedously. I was in a situation similiar to yours and it really opened by eyes. Good luck!

That is tough but the key is to set boundaries and rules and simply refuse to bend. You tell them they have a problem and that you care about them enough that your no longer going to contribute to that problem.
