If you will be around Seattle, the closest are Snoqualmie pass ski areas (boring and easy) or Crystal Mountain, about 1 1/2 hours away. Christmas time, depending on if you are planning on staying at the mountain makes the choice a lot easier. I spent 5 Christmas's in a row at Crystal, and had no problems with lift lines, food lines, or masses of people on the slopes.

Stevens pass or mt. Baker are my favs in WA. I grew up on Stevens pass and across from the skiing, there is a innertubing place where you can slide down on an innertube and take the pulley rope up and do it again. Its great fun and making snow angels.

Whistler it is about 4hours from seattle and it is named the best ski resort in North america
i also like stevens pass in the cascades

There aren't any good ski resorts in WA or OR. Go to UTAH!

Mount Baker in Washington has absolutely fantastic snow and tons of it....not too far from Bellingham.
Great apres ski and good prices.

Whistler is in BC, canada. it is very nice. only 1 hour away from vancouver BC. it is the site for Winter Olympics 2010
