'Science' is a very broad subject. There are many types of 'Scientists' with very diverse jobs.
You will need to be more specific as to just what field you are referring to.

It also depends on how you define 'scientist'. Someone who works in a lab all day and preforms experiments might be considered a 'scientist', but what about someone with a PhD in physics who does not work in a scientific field anymore, they might be a scientist too.

Scientists investigate and examine. They try to find out how things work, and why.

Scientist use their minds and education to learn about the world to help it and all who live on it.

They study the world purely from an empirical (from observative and experimental) standpoint, using the scientific method (hypothesis, test, conclusion, discussion). You can study absolutely anything you can quantify (put into numbers).
