If he stays at our place and goes out at night without our knowledge (we're sleeping) and gets hurt or does something illegal, would I, myself, as the girlfriend be held legally liable? Please, help - this is a major problem with my boyfriend and I - and his son is coming to stay this weekend. He's 14 and already has been getting into minor, but still, trouble.

HIS LEGAL GUARDIAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIM. IF THAT IS THE BF THEN YOU NEED TO ESTABLISH THE BOUNDARY THAT YOU WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OR HELP BAIL THE KID OUT OF TROUBLE WHEN/IF IT HAPPENS. UNLESS YOU WANT TO, THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING. SILENCE SIGNIFIES CONSENT.

You are not liable, you are not his parent. Sounds like it is time for your boyfriend to lower the hammer.

you are not liable for what he does outside your residence but what transpires in your house you are responsible for--example if he brings drugs or weapons into your home it is your house and legally responsible for what is in it
