Houston Texans--Because they are from Texas
Miami Dolphins--They are near the ocean where dolphins live.
Baltimore Ravens--Edgar Allen Poe was from Baltimore and his most famous writing is " The Raven'
Not sure about the Broncos.

There used to be a team called the Dallas Texans from 1960-62. They moved to Kansas City and became the Chiefs. Lamar Hunt was the owner for both teams obviously.

The owners of Houston thought the Texans would be a good name to have and they took it from the Dallas name. That's where they got the name. Not really a deep answer or story. Very simple.

Here is the Dallas Texans link and their logos. The colors of the KC Chiefs were taken from the Texans.

What did you want them to name themselves, the Houston New Yorkers? The Houston Hurricanes? ( Although I like that one)

Houston is in TEXAS!! Get it? TEXANS?

DOLPHINS live in the ocean, like the one near MIAMI,

BRONCOS used to run freely in Colorado, where DENVER is

The owner of the Baltimore Ravens cheated and screwed the people of Cleveland by taking the Browns away and setting up in Baltimore. He couldn't call his team the Baltimore Lawyers, so he picked a scummy bird to represent his team. The Raven.

They used to be the Houston Oilers, but before the Kansas City Chiefs were in Kansas City, they used to be the Dallas Texans.

Naming Contests
backround on the Texans is proably because the old Dallas Texans, who moved and became the Kansas City Chiefs for the nickname of the guy who convinced them to move, I believe, being Chief.

This is the name that people of that STATE VOTED ON AND CAME UP WITH. So the people of each state that have a Football team to move to their location this is the name that the people come up with. At lease that is what the people here in Nashville Tennessee did, When we received the Houston Oilers and the team relocated here, WE VOTE the people of this state) and it was a decision that the NEW TEAM name be The Tennessee Titans.

properly they replaced into referred to as the Houston Oilers, i did not know till those days they replaced their call. convinced that's a lame call, type of like the manhattan Yankees starting to be the manhattan, New Yorkers? you think of their PR people may have arise with something more desirable catchy and ingenious than that.
