I would talk to the professors first. May be they did not cover that much. Why lose a semester without a serious need?
Good luck

First, I don't know how many times a week your classes meet or whether your school is on the quarter or semester system, so it is hard to say how much class time you will miss. I am guessing that you will miss at least 4 classes, but that could be wrong.

Go talk with your academic advisor. E-mail and call him or her; don't wait. Every college or university that I know of has a policy on excessive absences- you can only miss a certain percentage of the classes held without automatically failing the class. Upperclassmen sometimes can miss a larger percentage than freshman. In the meantime, you can check your student handbook to find this policy. If you will exceed the limit, drop your class ASAP. The only way to override that policy is to talk to one of the Academic Deans and they will not allow it unless you have a really, really good reason (because it would not be good for you). Your advisor will probably know the limit as well; that is part of their job. If you will not exceed the limit, talk to the professor of the class and discuss your options. (Some professors have an attendance aspect to their participation grade and you could lose some major points very quickly. If you don't discuss it with them beforehand, you could have problems.)

Personally, I would advise you to go ahead and drop the class, or withdraw if the add/drop deadline has passed. From an academic and financial standpoint, you should consider dropping the class. Missing that amount of work is probably not a good idea and your grade could suffer. Financially, you will probably be paying off your loans for a while, every couple thousand dollars will count. Think of your transcript and your wallet and consider dropping your class, especially if you will miss at least 10-15% of the class time.

Good luck with your choice!

Wow, that's quite a long time to be missing classes. Is their any way you can talk to the Instructors to get their advice? If not you probably will want to drop. That's a lot of class to miss. If you were in one of my English classes you would have a hard time passing.

I wouldn't drop them. Speak to your professors and let them know what's going on and that you won't be in for a week and a half. You'll find them alot more understanding than you'd think. They will probably be able to give you a list of reading and/or projects to begin in the meantime. Good luck with school.

Before you drop, you should try to pick up a syllabus for each class so that you can determine whether or not you can keep up with the material on your own. If it's too overwhelming, then maybe you should drop.

That's a lot of class to miss. Unless you can contact your profs and they're okay with this, I'd drop the classes.

don't drop it, when you will be in the class, explain to your teacher why you couldn't make the first day/night....... most college teachers would understand.... they are adult also who have consequences in life.... i had a lot of classmates who came to the class only on second, third, or even fourth meeting... they explained to the instructor and they were okay...... BEST THING TO DO: call the school, ask the teacher's name and e-mail address or phone number, and call him/her, that way, he/she is aware that you are still coming to the class.

Of course. You can't show up two weeks later and pick up at your own convenience! If nothing else, you will have lost all credibility with your instructors by then.
