I don't know if there are any teams that still do this, but some teams would have a contest, and if you won the contest you got to be an honorary bat-boy/girl for one game. If you win the contest and do a good enough job at your one game, they might bring you on for the rest of the season.
However, I would suggest - as others have as well - contacting the team via their website, and asking them what you need to do to try out for the bat-girl, or even ball-girl position(s).

Batboy, batgirl. What is the freakin difference? A girl can do just as good of a job as a boy can. I would contact the team you want to batgirl for and see what they have to say. Team contacts can be found at MLB.com teamsites. Hope this helped you some.

Drop your favorite team an email or letter, Most of the time the batboy(girl) is related to someone who works for the team. And the batboy(Girl) does not travel, they work home games only.
what the hell go for it you never know.
