I would say its out of luck. Remember that the NL West is the weakest league in MLB. In most year, all the teams in the NL West are no more than 15 games behind the leader at the end of the season. But its great that their on pace to win the West. They actually have a chance to at least make it pass the Divisional playoffs, unless they face the Mets. If you really want to know what kind of team they will be during the playoffs, watch the Dodgers/Mets series and see if the Dodgers can make it.

They have a great chance to do it. But 3 straight losses to Colorado and Milwaukee is not the way to do it. They have 3 games against the Mets in NY starting Thursday and need to start winning again very soon if they are going to hold off the Padres. I think the race in the NL West could come down to the last weekend of the year with LA at SF and SD at Ariz. I do think the Dodgers will win the division with good pitching mostly.

G'day JJ,

Thanks for your question.

I am quite relaxed and comfortable if the Dodgers win the National League West. They will have a hard row to travel as most of their remaining matches are on the road and they have a losing away record this season. Further, they have lost three in a row cutting their lead over the Padres to 1 game. They have a lot of work to do.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

I feel ill, being a second-generation Dodger hater. However, the season is not yet over. Should they win it, they will at least have earned it...and then the Mets can sweep them. Revenge for the '88 playoffs!

Not only in the National League West is Hollywood all set up and ready to roll, but -- strictly bookmaking with no prejudice meant -- they won't be able to get by both teams from the Apple: Yanks in six, that's where the cold cash is.....

What do you mean? The Dodgers winning the N.L. West. They have the lead, they haven't won it! Ask the question again at the end of thr season, IF the Dodgers win the N.L. West!

The thought usually makes me laugh.

This season looking at the remaining games, I think the Padres will squeak out with the West title.
