...and $15 for food. You want to play a game that costs $.75. Write and solve an inequality to find the possible numbers of times you can play the game. If you play the game the maximum number of times, will you have spent the entire $50? Explain.

I have absolutely no idea how this can be done with an inequality. Personally, I find ineqaulities cumbersome and useless. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

No. If you start with $50, spend $25, and spend another $15, that leaves you with only $10 for games. If the desired game is 75 cents, you need to divide .75 into 10. That gives you an answer of 13.33-obviously not an even number. So, that means that you must multiply 13 by .75 to come up with how much you can spend on games. That gives you an answer of $9.75 to spend on your game, giving you a whopping quarter left!

Actually, inequalities aren't useless at all. I think they're a pretty accurate reflection of how real life operates.

i am not completely sure on how to set it up but maybe this will help...its just an idea i have of it

25+15+.75x
or
.75X+40

thats all i can come up with but i can tell you the answer is......you can play the game 12 times without going over because 50-40 is 10. so you divide 10 by .75 and its 13.3...thats all i could do

50 - 15 = 35 - 25 = 10 divided by .75 =13.333 so the answer to your question is no.

I will not do the math for you, but look at the problem in this manner. You have $50 and spend $25 for the entrance fee and $15 for food. Add together what you spend, subtract it from the oridinal amount and divide the remainer by $0.75 and you will have your answer.
