Did you then have to have more work done? Was it ok? Were you nervous?

Ive had 2 or 3 over the years at different times. I was very nervous first time but then my womb was quite badly lacerated and sore. When the doctor told me I could watch tv I thought great, maybe take my mind of it. What I didnt realise they were showing my interior regions on big screen lol. We are always wary of the unknown but its worth it in the end for the peace of mind.

i've had a "colposcopy" done years ago. basically it's like a pap smear, but they use a certain magnifying camera to see the cells on your cervix up close. it doesn't go "inside" of you, so there's no discomfort. however, if they need to take a biopsy of abnormal cells... this can be a little uncomfortable. i was nervous the first time i had one, but the nurse and dr. explained what they were doing as they went forward with the procedure.

there are many different reasons (i.e. dysplasia, hpv, precancerous cells, etc.) you can have an abnormal pap, resulting in the need of a colposcopy.

as for my experience... i've had 2 colposcopies and everything was normal after the biopsies.

good luck!

my wife had one and she was in discmfort for about 3 days and if it is HPV related you will have to go back regularly to be sure of no new abnormal cells if you smoke consider quitting as smoking makes these cells deform more rapidly
