a simple subject is the actual subject(just the noun), complete subject is everything that modifies the subject

The simple subject is typically one word ~~ a noun

The complete subject is the simple subject AND all the words that decribe the simple subject--usually all the words up to the action verb.

Example: The small boy rides the bus to school.

The simple subject is the word "boy."
The complete subject is " the small boy"
