It is an ethernet connection at FIT and when we connect it should go to the FIT page but instead it says can not find server even though it shows as connected.

Probably your school has some kind of proxy server. If u use Internet explorer go to > internet options > connections > lan settings > make mark near Use proxy server. Write proxy in blank box adress and 8080 in blank box port. mark bypass proxy server.... too. you can even try to go to advanced > look if its marked use same settings for all. (optional) In the last big blank box paste this 127.0.0.1; localhost

Need more details. What kind of school and what is your status there. Connection type? Could be they're blocking the Internet or certain applications such as messaging. Sometime wireless connection will show active, but won't pass traffic do to proper encryption.

if your putting the cursor over the little screens and it says LAN connection 10mbps or something similar, then yes your in the network but it always say that. its possible that you need to sign in using a user name and password to get on the net.
