How can you tell if someone is really working the 12 steps by the way they treat you and communicate with you. I've been yelled and cursed at and there has been no apologies for anything. What should I do/say?

first of all, i feel for you. i'm in the same boat. i notice when (1 she actually goes to meetings (2 talks with her sponsor (3 discusses her meetings(meetings can be discussed...without any names mentioned) (4 wanting to be honest about everything. this stuff is really, really heavy. it's true, you cant get them to quit- only they can do that. heck, you've probably even been blamed for their drinking at one time. i wish i had some magic words to give you. al-anon is for family members affected by someones drinking. at this point, its my only chance to save myself...like you, i dont know what else to do. i'm going to al-anon next week. 1 st time!
good luck and pray

He's not working them. He's probably got a bottle hidden in the closet and his guilt is eating him alive. Yelling, cursing...is not good. Only makes you feel low, and not good enough. Been there honey, found the empty bottles in the closet when he finally left for good. Best thing that ever happened to me.
