If there were 2 4x4 Dodge Rams, and the weight of the 2 trucks were made to be the same (Automatic trannys, syncronized shifting).
One has a Turbodiesel fixed up to 650 Hp, but the other one ALSO has 650 Hp, BUT is a fixed up 350 Ci V8 Gasoline motor. What will the race be like?

As long as it can get the power to the ground, the turbo diesel because it would make far more torque.

If it was a 1/4 mile drag race, I think the gasoline powered engine might have an advantage because it would rev up faster. Torque numbers are pretty important here also, but I'm just going to figure they are identical, which would be difficult to acheive. I think the turbo lag on the diesel would hurt it just a little bit. I would like to see this happen and know for sure.

The gasoline engined Dodge Ram has a slight advantage, as the turbodiesel has a slight lag. It should be a good race though.

The gas powered truck will be faster from a complete stop. Diesel powered motors start at a slower speed then increase as they go.

Solid question-I'm thinking the gasoline truck would come off the line so much quicker that the diesel would be chasing it all the way.

I think the gas motor. It would be faster to hit high RPM's. The turbo diesel would really haul at the top end, however.

The one with the turbo diesel will win. Those turbo diesels are awesome..my brother has one in his Dodge Ram (a Cummins)..best thing you can have.

What are the race conditions? On or off road? Quarter or eighth of a mile? Etc. . .

Because the gas version can rev higher it would probably just have the edge. Good question dude.

Depends on race conditions.

But it would probably be a lot like Nascar.
