hi am i med student and its so so dangerest to take diet pills i have found a story for you from some one who started tacking these pill and this is what happen i hope this story puts you off taking the pills.

At all times relevant, Nutrex Research, Inc., located in Winter Park, Florida, designed, manufactured and marketed a fat burner product called “Lipo 6”, hereinafter called “the fat burner”.
I was at all times relevant and prior to the occurrence a healthy individual with no prior medical or health conditions.
On or about December 13, 2004, I purchased the fat burner product.
The fat burner was designed, manufactured and sold by the Nutrex, and among the ingredients contained in the fat burner were 20mg of Synephrine HCL, 20mg of Guggulsterone, 3mg of Yohimbine HCL, 200mg of Caffeine Anhydrous and 5mg of Bioperine per capsule.

Synephrine HCL is structurally related to ephedrine and pseudo-ephedrine, and guggulsterone is a ketosteroid specifically called Z-Guggulsterone and its effect on the thyroid is that it increases the metabolic rate through stimulation of the thyroid gland, which can result in higher levels of T4 (Thyroxine), one of the two main thyroid hormones.

Yohimbine is a chemical that causes vasodilation, thereby lowering blood pressure and stimulation of the central nervous system. It is an alkaloid in yohimbe, which is a tree bark containing a variety of pharmacologically active chemicals and is marketed in a number of products for bodybuilding. At high doses, yohimbine is a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor and can cause serious adverse effects when taken concomitantly with tyramine-containing foods or with over-the-counter (OTC) products containing phenylpropanolamine. Serious adverse effects, including renal failure, seizures and death, have been reported to the FDA with products containing yohimbe and are currently under investigation.

Yohimbine has the same similar effect as ephedrine also known as ephedra.

On or about April 12, 2004, the FDA banned products containing ephedrine because it presented an unreasonable risk of illness or injury and has been linked to numerous and significant adverse health effects, including heart attacks and strokes. Nutrex knew of the FDA ban on products containing ephedrine.

The directions included on the fat burner product label directed that for fat loss 2 liquid-capsules should be taken twice daily and for extreme fat loss 2 liquid-capsules should be taken 3 times daily. The directions further indicated that taking 2 liquid-capsules 30 minutes prior to working out increased energy.

The fat burner was placed into the stream of commerce and sold by Nutrex in a defective and unreasonably dangerous condition in that the design of the fat burner was such that it failed to include a warning necessary for the safe and proper use of the fat burner.

The fat burner reached me without any substantial change in its condition and was in that same condition at the time of the injury.

On or about December 24, 2004, after taking two of the fat burner liquid-capsules twice daily and jogging, thus using the fat burner in foreseeable manner and in accordance with the directions contained in the fat burner product label, I collapsed and became temporarily unconscious and non-responsive. My central nervous system shut down and I experienced a syncopal episode.

I was admitted into the George Washington University Hospital Center and was diagnosed with having suffered from heart “palpitations” and a damaged thyroid gland from the use of the fat-burner.

The heart “palpitations” and damaged thyroid gland occurred because of a defect in the fat burner, in that the fat burner in order to be non-defective and reasonably safe for use, should have contained or been accompanied by a warning that the product contained ingredients that could cause serious adverse effects and that taking two of the fat burner liquid-capsules twice daily could cause low blood pressure, low and elevated heart rate as well as heart palpitations and other serious medical conditions.

The fat burner in order to further be non-defective and reasonably safe for use, should have also contained or been accompanied by a warning that because the product contained yohimbine, serious adverse effects could occur when taken concomitantly with tyramine-containing foods or with over-the-counter products containing phenylpropanolamine.

If the fat burner had contained or been accompanied by such warnings, I would not have used the fat burner and would not have been injured.

On February 1, 2005, I spoke with Jeff McCarrell, the President of Nutrex Research, Inc. Mr. McCarrell advised me for the first time that taking two of the fat burner capsules twice daily for beginners, like myself, would cause heart “palpitations”. This warning or statement was not contained on the fat burner product label nor were there any warnings that the product contained ingredients similar to ephedrine.

Nutrex knew or should have known that taking two of the fat burner liquid-capsules twice daily would cause serious adverse effects such as heart “palpitations” and that the product contained ingredients similar to ephedrine making the product an unreasonable risk to illness or injury but intentionally omitted these facts from the product label so as to induce and promote the sell of the product.

As a result of the defect described above, and Nutrex’s conduct, I suffered extreme pain and agony which continues to the present and which is expected to continue for the rest of my life. I sustained a damaged thyroid gland and has incurred medical expenses and substantial future medial expenses are expected. I suffered lost wages – all as a result of the defect described above.

hope its helped from lisa

Any weight loss pill you get without a prescription is:

1. a scam, it will not work
2. dangerous, possibly deadly

"supplements" are NOT regulated by the FDA (food and drug administration)
Thus NO LAW protects you, ensuring the item is:
1. Safe,
2. Effective,
3. Made from "pure" ingredients
4. Made in a clean manufacturing environment

If the diet pill doesn't work all you have lost is money

If the diet pill *does* work, chances are it is because it contains dangerous amphetamine (speed) like compounds which can do serious damage to to your heart or brain, possibly killing you.

Metabolife got introuble a couple years ago for hiding adverse reactions from its customers. Many previously healthy people were dying suddenly of heart attacks. The company hid the fact.

They faced a stern fine, but since the diet industry is a billion dollar industry they have deep pocekts to lobby with. The supplement industry DOES NOT WANT to be regulated. Their research costs are very low compared to real medicines, since they don't have to prove saftey. If they were forced to follow the same strict FDA laws it would suck the profit right out of their system.

Bottom line, don't risk it.

Therefore, you are not alone in this battle.
