I have noticed a trend lately where songs about break-ups seem to be all rock-like and love songs seem to be all ballady and miserable. Shouldn't it be the other way around that people are happy to be in love and miserable to break-up?

They usually write about what they feel like at the moment. Plus--breaks-ups with someone you love= BAD.
Break-up with someone you don't love=Good for you.

do you mean like all over now by the rolling stones?try and find its over now by boz scaggs great beaty break up song from the late 70s didn't do to well in the charts tho lol.

Yeah i suppose, artists are motivated by the music bosses trends

you have to be lifted when you down make you feel good you can live through it! and cooled down when your in love anyway in Greece all songs are about love like they have nothing El's to sing about.......
