I know it is said that sex can help along labor. I am 39 weeks and 1 cm dialated as of 10 am yesterday. I was wondering for those that have tried sex as a natural labor inducer...how long did it take before it actually started to bring on contractions...I know its not the sex itself that helps that its the semen but when does it begin to help? This is my first pregnancy!

I was 39 weeks pregnant also and wasn't dialated at all. My husband and I had sex the night before I went into labor and I started getting contractions shortly after he ejaculated. I would say about 10 minutes after. They were very irregular though so I just tried my hardest to sleep. So I did and the next day I had my 39 week check-up and my water broke. So it really did help!

The semen helps as well as you having an orgasim. It causes contractions they say. If you have 1 every half hour for 3 hours it's supposed to get things going. Best Wishes

I think it's the cervical stimulation. Cervical exams can help bring on labor too. Also, try nipple stimulation and walking. Also good tricks to bring on labor. Walking is actually what did it for my wife the second time around.

It's not actually the semen that helps either. It's the stimulation of the cervix that does the trick. You can get the same result with manual stimulation from your doctor (of if you want to have some fun, your husband.........).

Its something in the mens ejackulation that helps you go into labor. It didn't work for me or my sister... who was pregnant with twins. I would suggest walking, or kinda gross (scraping the membranes with your fingers if you can). Scraping my membranes I had my daughter less then 24 hours later. Good Luck
