Shock value will always have greater appeal as a lower common denominator than intellectual interest.

As far as that goes, I would agree that it would be easier to get higher ratings and get more people to open their minds a little bit by 'pushing the limits'. The people who are truly interested are going to be far fewer, and are much more likely to seek out additional information through more ordinary channels.

I don't mean to knock it. Maybe we should learn more. Maybe we need a shock to rock our apathetic world!

I do not like 'Corwin'I mean, he is okay! but I get the feeling that he only a showman, sure he likes certain animals...but I really think he uses a script and sleeps at the motel 8. unlike Steve Irwin, who would rather and did sleep in the bush.

No, I don't agree. People watched Jacque Coustoe, I don't think he did anything extraordinary.
I liked Steve because of his lively personality, not the crazy things he did.

Stingray kills 'Crocodile Hunter' Irwin <~~~ Am I the only one who sees the irony in that, and am I the only one that finds that extremely funny, and I KNOW I'm not the only one saying "I knew that **** was gonna happen" :)):))

I never watched the crocodile hunter on TV, but i am more apt to watch now that he croaked (reptile humor). So i guess he is right.
