I want to maybe take a bellydancing class, can anyone who has taken one tell me what the benefits are? Tell me what you accomplished when taking that class..or if there is anything better I could take to lose some weight while it being fun.

Right..for the last comment, when taking a belly dancing class you do not need to show your sromach. I am bigger, but not fat. I'm tall and have a bigger build. Anyway, my messege to anyone who thinks that ppl who are bigger trying bellydancing, the only way to get skinny people of their backs about being fat is to lose weight, yet we get these kinds of answers..good job.

I've tried it, but i gave up because it proved to be extremely difficult :) the benefits are that even after and if you give up, you strengthen your muscles, learn how to make some nice feminine moves, and, what i especially like is; it becomes a kind of hobby that you do at home with your girlfirends maybe. you provide the music and the fun is endless. My mom in law has danced for 20 years and is still big in the middle, actually most of her friends who dance are thick middled too. She used to be a professional bellydancer but now just teaches for fun

They offer a belly dancing aerobics class at my gym. I only joined a couple of weeks ago so I want to know I can do cardio for a full hour before I try, but as soon as I can, I'm joining!
You get cardio from it, as well as toning and coordination.
And something to share with your spouse!!

you said something about having fun while losing weight. good idea. I am a dad, my daughter is in a dance class.
I hear a lot of good things about belly dancing for women.

only take belly dancing if you are skinny....and if you arent well...then dont. if you think you need to lose weight you are either a bigger sized person or you are anorexic. if you are anorexic i wouldnt consider taking the class because if you do belly dancing you know you are going to be showing your stomach and anorexic people dont want other people to see their "fatness" as they call it when they are extremely skinny. and if you are a bigger sized person just do us all a favor and dont do it!! sorry if i have offended you in any way i just am trying my best to help you.
