x = # of rows of peas

x + 5 = # of rows of corn

x + x + 5 = 19

Subtract 5 from both sides and

x + x = 2x = 14

Divide both sides by 2 and

x = 7

Plug 7 into the row numbers you want to find so

there are x = 7 rows of peas; 7 rows of peas and

there are x + 5 = 7 + 5 = 12 rows of corn

7 rows of peas and 12 rows of corn total 19 rows in all

let the no of rows of peas be x so that of corns will be x+5
given both put together is 19
so x+x+5=19
2x+5=19
2x=14 and so x=7
so there are 7 rows of peas and 12 rows of corns
