I had the same problem. My icon disappeared and there was no getting it back. I finally got Spybot - Search & Destroy. It's free and it works great.
I said it's free, but there are probably websites that will charge you for what they got for free. I know that's the case with Limewire. That's free at www.limewire.com, but there are a lot of websites with similar names that want to sell it to you.

pull up the anti-spy software you installed and look for a check box that says "Show icon on taskbar" and click it, then click apply and it should appear

go to preffrences and setup than look for tool bar

DEPENDS ON THE PROGRAM AND THE OPTIONS IT COMES WITH. MOST PROGRAMS COME WITH PROPERTIES YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE.
