In micropropagation a petri dish may be filled with a growing medium made from agar and small pieces of plant (i.e. garlic or roses) placed in it to grow roots, before being planted into larger vessels.

if you put a sample in it you can let it sit over time and it will start to grom bacteria nad you can look and examine the bacteria safely through the dish
