This depends on the state of the filing and the situation of the payment records. In TX, there is no age limit if you get behind and accumulate interest & late fees that need to be paid from the lack of paying. My ex is still paying for an almost 31 year daughter.

If a court ordered child support, you stop paying when the order specifies.

In most cases, child support stops when the child turns 18.

However, fathers who care about their children -- and have the means to -- should continue to provide support (emotional and financial) when needed, no matter how old the child is.

That all depends on what the court order states... 18 if they leave home or older if they stay in school and live at home usually....

Read the court order!!!

Or if your ex gets remarried and her new husband adopts the child.... But if you owe back support, you still have to pay till the arrears are caught up and paid in full!!!!

When the child is 18 and/ or out of school/college. I'm 24 yrs old and my Father is $98,000 in back child support and he's sitting in jail finally! So make sure you pay they will catch up to you sooner or later.

Are you for real? This is a no brainer. When the kid is 18!! If you stop before then I will hunt you down myself and turn you into a girl. You don't ever stop paying child support. That is my pet peeve. My ex is $7,000 behind on CS and I want to slap him ****less.

When the child reaches 18 unless they go to college then you must pay up until the age of 21. (unless otherwise stated in the papers)

You're missing the point. Child support is for your child not the ex and support not just monitarily, but emotionally.

It's a life long thing. get used to it.

Only when the court order says. Usually this is when a child reaches a certain age stated in the court papers.
