Yes, He is the main steelers target, and is probable for Thursday night. I don't blame you for wondering, though I have him and until sportcenter last night, I was thinking no, but then it said he is probable, so I say yes, start him.

We would need to know who the backup is, but in light of the Charlie Batch factor, I would sit him this week.
Ward could still be okay, but they will lean a bit more on Willie Parker and Heath Miller.
You would need to have a backup the caliber of Plaxico Burress, Reggie Wayne, Donald Driver, Javon Walker, etc.
Play the matchup most favorable, i.e. against a bad defense...

If you have a decent backup, I would sit Ward until you know he's healthy.

I benched him this week in favor of a starting WR. His status in uncertain because Cowher is so tight lipped and you are right about Big Ben. I am going to watch this week and determine from there for next week.

Ward will be fine and Batch is not all that bad. I would start him.

I would start him. Sometimes injuries are exaggerated.
