I've never really had any problems with anyone regarding my sexuality so it's made me think it's easier to be out in society being a woman, but it's for all the wrong reasons if you know what I mean. What do the boys think?

Wow. Good question!
I'm not lesbian, but am open minded and have ended up talking to alot of bi and bicurious men.

It would be ALOT easier to be lesbian than it would to be a gay male.

As a female, I can say stuff off hand like "oooh- I'd like to feel HER up" ... and people aren't so shocked or grossed out and turned off as if my boyfriend would say something like "wow, I'd like to grab HIS ***!" or "I wonder how big HE is..."!

There is definitely a double standard with men and women there... and women have more social acceptance.

I know you were looking for a guy to answer, but I personally think that society has made lesbians 'desirable' for both men and women. For men, its a fantasy, for women it can be as well, but typically people want to see women together over men especially in public. Maybe because women are seen as 'prettier.'

I think that each sex has its own set of problems...gay women get raped by straight men with great regularity. Gay men get beaten up by straight men with some regularity. Same crap, different acts. But in each case, someone loses. So far, it is the gays that have done the losing. As for me, I have no problem beating the crap out of anyone who steps out of line with me. I am NOT the turn the other cheek kind of guy, and I have learned that stupid homophobes understand only one thing...pain. They love to give it, and there are times when I consider it my destiny to teach them about what they like to give. Barbaric?? Perhaps, but then I am not going to be tied to a fence, tortured, and killed, either.

I think that society has made it much more acceptable for a woman to be bi than it is for a man. I suspect that with lesbianism, thats a different story all together though.

I think that its easier for a woman to be out than for a man. Most guys have the notation when 2 girls kiss, its sexy but when two men, kiss its gross.

I think women are neutral to whatever the disscusion leads too! I'm glad women have a say in things because, if you didn't, how would we not get a long? (As far as many things in common and being like old girlfriends talking at a pajama party!)

It is an extreme example of a double standard, and it is true, to an extent. People are people, and tend to be hypocrites. I guess we all are to na extent, but, yeah, it DOES seem to be easier, but then I am not a woman, and I know some that have it rough.

I think it can all be summed up by something Brett Butler said years ago on Letterman, to paraphrase: "Guys hate it when others guys get together, but when sexy Bambi and Amber hook up, it's all good. However, when Large Marge and her partner Jo move in next door, they're all up in arms about sex with women."

Yes I do. Many people thing that two women together is just plain sexual rather than two lesbians showing love. Two guys to them is not somrthing they think of as hot or natural and seen immediately as two gay gus instead of just two guys

Women usually don't have to be "out". Men often don't either. Lesbians can live most of their lives in many settings without mentioning it at all. Many men, however, often don't need to either, they wear it garishly on their sleeves. Usually, when the man says something about it, most who hear him are thinking, "Yep, knew it all along." Personally, I think it all is more tolerable if some who "out" themselves weren't so often so far out.
