Last year we thought the hard drive crashed, but after months of not being used, it booted up and ran fine. The only problem is, it will not run unless it is plugged into AC power. It will charge the battery, and it shows that the battery is fully charged, but as soon as the AC power is disconnected, the computer shuts itself off. I have checked all my settings and they are all set to switch to battery power when disconnected. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

it must be extra sinister. a user-friendly difficulty i've got considered fail on laptops is a failure the place the A/C %. plugs into the laptop. It wears out by way of apply. try this speedy try. Take out the battery from the laptop and attempt to run the laptop off without postpone A/C. If it runs, you understand this is the battery. (they do bypass besides). If it does not, you understand this is the two the flexibility %. or the circuit from the flexibility %. to the laptop. the only thank you to purpose if this is the flexibility %. in case you have an identical one. i could bypass to appropriate purchase or some thing comparable that sells power packs. tell them, you think of the A/C %. is going, and you opt to purpose it. Run the try without the battery in lower back. see in case you have a difficulty. i've got self assurance this is the circuit that feeds the DC power into the battery. i've got considered this fail distinctive cases. this is reason the extra cases you plug it in, and unplug it, it wears out the little wires connecting it to the flexibility furnish/battery circuit. the only thank you to repair that difficulty is a clean motherboard.

I too have had this problem. It is either the battery($80ish on Ebay) or it could also the the charging circuits in the computer(new motherboard). Unfortunately, mine was the charging circuits. The only thing that you can do is try a new battery and if that doesn't work then you might as well shop for another laptop...

Sounds like a dead battery. I would not bother replacing it. They cost too much.

It happened on mine. Mine will only work at all, if I take the battery completely out.
