In real life I bet they are as conservative as all get out. Button down shirts, ties, shiny shoes, hair slicked back, but when they get on Yahoo Answers, where nobody knows their name, the real wild man inside escapes, and they go crazy, breaking all the rules they come to for one simple reason......

It is due to a lack of accountability and enforcement.

Users here are pretty much anonymous.

The worst penalty is getting kicked off. Offenders can just open another account.

Some people don't conform to rules because it makes them feel powerless. These people usually find happiness in conflict, making life difficult for those around them.

It seems that nearly all the offensive questions come from newbies, level 1 -- using their free 100 points to try and antagonize people.

if some cant take the time to check their spelling then they sure aren't going to take the time to follow any rules.
