There should still be parts around from scrapyards - when some minor items on our Rover 600 broke, a local specialist Rover scrapper had them in. Also, as many Rover cars have Honda engines in, so these parts should be easier to come by. Plus, if there's a market, generic parts may appear. However, there are no guarentees.

And now, a cautionary tale of the difficulty of getting car parts:

ONE day as a man was driving his Datsun truck down the road, the steering wheel broke. Told that he would have to wait six months for delivery of a cog, he flew to Japan to get one. Unfortunately, the Datsun factory would sell the cogs only in boxes of 1000. Undaunted, he bought a box and took a flight home. Somewhere over the western plains, the plane ran into trouble and had to unload all unnecessary weight. Keeping one cog for himself, he allowed the rest to be thrown overboard. On the ground, two farmers looked up and one exclaimed: "Look, Sam! It's raining Datsun cogs!"

My parents have a Rover 45 and in February this year someone drove into the back of them and damaged the boot lid. This obviously needed replacing and as there were no Rover dealers left to take the car to be repaired to, they had to search for a new boot lid themselves, along with the insurance company. They only found one a month ago and have just had it repaired. Rovers are great cars but I wouldn't recommend buying one with the situation of no parts.

Probably not - Rover have stopped producing them - but other companies will fill the gap as there will be a demand and no competition from Rover.

But still don't get one - they're rubbish! :P
