I am 27 and I want to learn to play the guitar. What is a good basic inexpensive acoustic guitar to get? I am not planning on being the next Jimmy Page. My intentions in playing would be to just learn a few basic cords and some songs. I would like to learn some older country music and folk music. Music that I would like to learn would be Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot, Van Morrison etc...Do you have any advice for me?

My college roommate learned the acoustic guitar. IT WAS AGONY for me. He kept playing the same 8 bars over and over and over. There are three songs that I HATE. 1. Raindrops keep falling on my head (Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid). 2. It's a Small World (Disney Ride). 3. There ain't no more cane on this brazos (Roommate).

Whatever you do. Don't play the same song in front of people while you are learning it, unless you are paying them to teach you. It could be FATAL.
