I know how you feel, more so by the fact that I skipped the 8th grade and went right to being a freshman in high school. I knew even less people, as I went from dealing with the upper classmen in Junior high school, to dealing with them in high school, and only knowing the ones in my class by what they did to us the last year. I was the same age, but had been a year behind due to having rhumatic fever twice in 1st grade.
You will live through this. It does seem like it goes on forever, but that is only because you brain has stored very little life experiences so far. It has only been a couple, to a few years, since you, and everyone else in the high school, BEGAN developing conceptual thought process. All of your brains are still learning how to deal with new situations. The older ones are just as scared as you, but exhibit it by how they treat the younger ones. You did much the same thing last year, and will do it again in a few years.
Sorry, this may not be the answer you want or like, but truth is a part of growing and learning. How you handle things is fully up to you. Don't have friends, introduce yourself. Join some school clubs. I can't tell you to ignore the treatment of the upper classmen, as you brain is telling you to run, just remember, the only power they have over you is what you grant them. Also remember this when you are in their place and treating underclassmen badly.

I don't think anybody likes it at first, its one of those big institutional settings society puts you in at various times in your life, but you get used to it and usually have a pretty good time. High school is one of the best! If I can suggest, get involved with something. Thats a way to occupy your mind with thoughts other than how miserable you are, plus it is about the easiest way to meet people. In high school you will meet some of the best friends you will ever know--you could still be friends with them 50 years from now! You will have a lot of fun too, whether its attending football games or just driving around, or funny things that happen in class. Anyway, I hope it all works out well for you. Aloha

You kinda sound like how I was in highschool. It's intimidating going to a new school that's unfamiliar-especially when you don't have a lot of your buds around. Not to worry. In your classes, you'll proabably be forced to work with classmates you don't know-but you'll probably find that there are other kids in the same oosition as you are, or that you at least have something in common with. This is a stressful enough time in your life-try not to add to it by wiorrying about getting used to highschool. You'll ease into it just fine-It will take a little time to adjust and soon you'll be wondering what you were so upset about in the first place. Remember that everyone your age is probably only worried about what everyone else is thinking about them anyway- so don't stress about fitting in too much. If you relax and have fun, you'll soon realize how stressed out everyone else is! Study hard and try to relax.

Well it starts with you...be confident in you, your work, and what you do....If the teacher asks a question & you know the answer, don't be afraid to raise your hand & answer....show other people you've got brain power... Say hi to the people you see everyday or at least to the ones you make eye contact with everyday. Try to make friends....the people that sit next to you are your best bet....Join a school club that inerest you or even a sport. Once you are full of confidence & you have friends to boost & back it up. You will be ok!

You keep attending school. It will get easier as soon as you make some friends. You have to socialize with people. This is part of what being human is all about.

a few days after high school started, i did something really bad to myself (i'll spare you of the details) but two to three weeks later, I got into the whole routine... it'll get better once you settle into classes... hey, all you have to do is be nice to others and not gossip. that's how I survive.
