I'm a nationally certified Tennis Instructor and former Top 20 tennis player in New England.

To hit a topspin serve, do the following:

1. Toss the ball near your opposite shoulder, slightly behind you.

2. Using the backhand grip, snap your wrist and racquet head upwards, meeting the ball while it is slightly lower than usual, with the length of your racquet parallel to the ground.

3. Brush the back of the ball upwards in the same way you'd put topspin on a groundstroke.

4. To impart the most topspin, arch your back just before you meet the ball.

Jumping comes is the result of trying to get more energy from your legs and get a better angle to shoot at. First, I'd take a continental grip. If you didn't knew yet. Then, I'd learn what is pronation and see the obvious video which covers the whole process of serving. Given that you hand shake someone with your right hand then you keep the same hand position with this person. If you turn your palm downward, you are into pronation, if you turn it up to your face you are in supination. Pronation is when you turn the racket head from the side to the front so it faces the target, plus of less. Once you understand what you are doing, that you have gone through youtube and seen manny videos that shows simply the movements and name them. Whether or not you follow the tips, is not very important for now, what is important is that you must know what are the sequences of a serve to actually put them together. Then, I advise you to use a platform serve. There are two types of foot stance; pinpoint where both feet are wide and then one is pulled toward the other before jumping and platform where both feet stay wide. Why? Because it's harder to time a foot and weight shift on a pinpoint. As you never did jumped while performing an explosive action, it's not a good idea to incorporate too much. At worst, it's easy to change. Now, go see how Federer serves his flat serves. Actually, no serves doesn't have any spin, they all have a bit of top spin at an angle these flat serves, but it's just so you know. You'll make it right anyway. Why Federer? He's the most fluent player and is therefore the most easy to learn from and he also is one of the best server in the tour. Also, remember a very useful tip all along this journey: keep in midn to land on your non-racket leg. You must jump and get as extend as possible and therefore you need to be angle so your racket hand is at the top and your non-racket leg is at the very bottom. Keep in midn to land in the court and on the right leg. Then, it's just a matter of hitting balls. I'd give as a tip to train both side and bother more about the technic than the result at first; if it doesn't get in, it's not a problem, if it goes in and your swing is wrong and you keep it this way, it becomes a problem.

You can listen to them if you want, but let me give you some sound advice:

As a professional source on topspin and backspin, I don't advise you to use the topspin serve in tennis. Even if you manage to serve it with top spin, it is a poor and weak serve. Don't expect to get a lot of power/speed from that serve.

I suggest you TRY and master the slice serve and your speed serve. Imagine the possibility of mixing these two types of serves in a game. It'll throw your opponent off greatly!

Toss farther and lower to the side then normal change your grip to continental and hit the ball with a slicing action. I love doing this serve because it lands then bounces in crazy directions.

When you hit the ball, bring your racquet up as you are hitting it.
Does that make sense?
If you hit it on an upstroke, you can get it to topspin.
