OK. My pc shut down on me constantly. I asked a question on here last week about what i should do and i was told to find out the temperature of the pc after it shuts down on me. It turns out that it is 100 degrees centigrade. They also told me to start my pc in safe mode and run the virus scan becuase if i try to run it in regular mode, it shuts down on me... Well... When i try to start the pc in safe mode, it shuts down on me before it even logs on. Is it time for me to go to the Shop NBC headquarters, where i got the PC from for too much money, and toss this piece of crap off the roof? If there is a fix for this problem, please let me know. I dont want to lose the140 gig worth of crap i have on here.

Your processor is obviously overheating. 100C is 212F, or boiling point. Get a better CPU fan because the one you have is failing/broken/inefficient.

I would agree with all of these. On the occasion I check in the bios, my temp reads about 55 at most. And mine is on most of the time. My dad had the side of his case off cause to cool it down a bit. My brother had a 1.? GHz with 4 case fans inside cause of overheating. Was a lot louder, but kept it reasonable. Open the side of the case and see if the main poser supply fan is turning. If not, get a new one. Is the cpu fan plugged in, is it turning? If not, try to gently touch the face of it and nudge (not force) it a bit. If not absolutely get a new one. Write down the numbers to get a new or better one. Also get some case fans. These can plug "inline" to the power cables between the supply and devices. When you start the computer, go into the bios and write down the temps. Sometimes fan speed as well. But do turn the computer off for a few days to cool down. Like they say, check the dust, take the cover off and blow a fan in there to cool it down. If there is a switch on the outside back of the power supply fan to adjust the fan speed. Hi, lo, auto. Keep that on hi.

You definitely have a dead CPU fan. Nothing else short of dropping your PC in a volcano would get it that hot. You need a new heatsink and CPU fan for your computer. If you know nothing about replacing a CPU fan have a professional do it. Amateurs have a tendency to destroy their CPU and/or motherboard while replacing CPU fans.
As for your 140GB of crap as you put it, that is all on your hard drive which is probably safe since the problem is your CPU. you can remove that and put it into a new computer. Your hard drive isn't nearly as fragile or difficult to work with as a CPU Fan.
Don't throw your computer out the window. If you really are that mad at the machine email me and I'll take it off your hands.

Open your case to check that your fans are running, if not, chances are your fans are either disconnected or dead. If so, buy a new fan. One good thing to do is to buy a can of compressed air and clean out all the dust that has built up inside your computer. Another thing you can do is to place your computer in an area with good ventilation, such as near a window. You should avoid putting your computer in tight places and in corners, as heat will build up quicker both inside and outside the computer. I don't see that anything is wrong with your computer other than overheating, something that can be remedied easily, but if you do buy a new computer, you can transfer your old hard drive into your new computer, as long as the new computer is compatible, i.e. SATA or IDE.

That's pretty hot!!!!! Try opening the case and place an electric fan directly at the cpu. See if it works. If it does, then there is not enough airflow in your computer. You would need get better fans, there should be one in the front side of the case blowing air in, and one in the back side of the case blowing air out. But try the electric fan first.

Is that a real temperature of yours CPU? Normaly most of processors are burned once they're @ 85C isnt that 100F? If is. Let me know your whole configuration. It can be power, memory leak, bad sectors and lot of things.

open the case and see if there is dust build up - if not place a small desk fan to temp. cool the comp while you get your stuff off of the hard drive once that is done - trouble shoot it.
