I am sure people have asked this, but on Labor Day like so many people we had a BBQ, well we didn't invite flies,but they rudely showed up. We had citronella candles burning that didn't help.( It kept mosquitos away ) Is there something like candles that keep flies away ?? It was so horrible and embarrassing. MY husband and I made sure we cleaned and washed down the cement. Please help for next BBQ

Hang up clear bags of water. I live on a horse farm (you can imagine the flies) and it works like a charm!

citronella always works for me ...the candels are a little week try buying the liquid form and diluting it with a little water spray around the garden befor the bbq... i have also heard the clear bags of water but never tried , i know clear bottles half full of water will prevent cats digging up your plants ...

Flies are hard. THe only thing that will work is to maybe spray the area the day before.

nothing keeps them away but rather controls them by killing them anytime they come around. simply insecticides. as long as they fly, not even the wind can keep them away. that is a connotation
