i just watched Izzy blow his 10th save. The Cardinals make a comeback in the top of the ninth and then lose because of him. I think Wainright could do it but he is a rookie and that's a lot of pressure. who do you like?

There is no possible way to shake up the bullpen this late in the season and see good results. You can't throw Wainright into that position, he's a rookie who will start next year. Hancock is a long reliever with a 3.82 era. Sosa is the same type of pitcher with a 4.66 Cardinal era and 5.32 on the year. Looper is a set up guy and has a 3.69 era. Izzy is at 3.55. The lefties, Johnson and Flores are both over 4.50. Clearly the players that other people think should close have WORSE ERA's than Izzy. There isn't a better viable option than Izzy. Personally, I cringe whenever Looper comes in the game. As Izzy and LaRussa have both said, Izzy's cutter comes and goes from batter to batter. Also, try to remember he's the Cardinals career saves leader with 13 more than Lee Smith. Izzy is not as good as he has been in the past, but he is still good.

no longer quickly, no. he's 8 saves faraway from 3 hundred so he would be in there till a minimum of June to get those. he will have the completed month to tutor he's THE closer. He has to diminish his era, walks, hits, ahem.... and BS.... by then, or I see the activity going to McClellan after that, who's maximum possibly being groomed as a starter next 300 and sixty 5 days. they have alot of skills, rather pitching, and it is a shame to make certain high quality starts from their team, inclusive of Wainwright's on Wednesday and Wellemeyer's in the present day, which Izzy blew and lost the two.

I think the Cards should investigate Francisco Cordero. I believe he's a free agent after this year... and regardless... the Brewers have 3 closers (Turnbow, Kolb and Cordero)... and there's no way to keep that many egos happy with one closer's job. One of them is gonna have to be moved. Cordero had a rough year, but he's closed successfully in the tougher AL. He'll tear up these soft NL hitters.

Izzy for sure...I agree with Kyle G.

I would like to see B.J. Ryan in a Cardinals uniform! A guy can dream a little, can't he?

i think they should keep izzy for now and start poking around the free/soon to be free agent pool for a statisticly reliable closer.

I like Looper to take the role. Mets suck!
