First "The Fellowship of the Ring", then "The Two Towers", then "The Return of the King". The "Hobbit" is another book that you should read before the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is by the same author and it will really help you to understand the LOTR trilogy better as it gives a background on the Ring and characters of the books.

You should read the Hobbit first, but it doesn't really effect anything if you don't. the order is Fellowship of the ring, The two towers, and return of the king. The Silmarilian is an interesting read, but hard to get into, it was written after J.R.R's death by his son from all of his notes on the history and beginnings, and not as well written.

I am not sure what you are driving at but you may want to read the Hobbit first because you will get an introduction to all the characters.
