what you need to do is have a talk to your isp(internet service provider) and explain your set up at home and they should be able to recommend a wireless package
aol are doing a wireless package as standard at the moment, and bt broadband are doing the much talked about "bt home hub" which has a wireless and wired connections and can run up to 10 p.c,s
if you live in a built up area, try running the wireless network set up wizard, and if you have a bit of the luck you may pick up a connection in your area,if you do,dont go telling everyone, you may be able to use that until you get a wireless router, however this is stealing bandwidth and is illegal so i am not recommending it
your best bet would be to speak to your isp, like i said, wireless setups are now cheaper than wired
good luck

Simplest solution is to buy a wireless router that connects between you desktop computer and modem. They range in price from $30 on up to $120. You also need to be sure that your laptop has a wireless network card in it. You can check this under Network Connections(in Windows). Also be sure that you place the router to where the signal doesn't have to go through thick walls like brick. It has little problem going through drywall and lumber but brick and metal walls can reduce connectivity.

The easiest method is to buy a wireless router.

Wireless enabled on the laptop just means it is already capable of connecting to a wireless network, you need any additional devices on the laptop itself. You still need something to wirelessly broadcast your internet connection, that's were the router comes in.

Buy a router. The one I use is Linksys and it is great! Had it for 4 years now and no problems.

If your laptop is wireless enabled, the router is all you need, nothing else. Just install the software that comes with the router and you are set to go.

You need a ROUTER mate. there is no need to buy another laptop if ur present one doesnt have it inbuilt. you can buy USB wireless adapter or wireless PCMCIA card (biscuit shaped n sized).
If you have Windows XP, you can go to Start- Help and Support and there you can find " a Guide to Wireless Networking" which will guide you what all do u need to set up a wireless network.

You'll need to purchase a wireless router or access point. Never fear however, because your laptop should have a regular LAN port also.
