when i try to play vmk it uploads but then this thing pops up that says - can not connect with vmk server check your firewall/ internet security settings.

sounds like you timed out. did you check your firewall settings? if a program changes a little bit, the firewall might see that, and think it's a hack of some sort, and will ask if it should block it.
this may have happened while someone else was on the computer, or when you were doing something completely different, and you mightn't have known what program it was asking to block.
you should go into the firewall settings to see if this is the case. also, you need to remember, you gotta set your computer to allow such a transfer of information to go in and out of your computer in order to play some of these games.
