you subtract the 16m from both sides so you get:
-2m=16m-9
-16m -16m
and that leaves -18m=-9
so then divide by -18 on both sides

first put the m's on one side and the number on the other. subtract 16m from both sides to move it.
-2m-16m = 16m -16m - 9
-18m = -9
then divide both sides by -18
-18m/-18 = -9/-18
this cancels the -18 on the m side and on the other side, the - cancels to be positive and you get:
