make no mistake WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. This was a qualifying game with a second string team that still played poorly. Even the regulars acted like this was a friendly. The French were possesed to win a largely meaningless match to feel better about themselves losing in July. And they did out play the Italians - which doesn't say much - our defence sucked.
Buffon didn't impress me today either
Actually the whole Italian team looked like they needed oxygen masks for the second half.

The Italians still are the World Cup champions. This was only a qualifier match, so I'm afraid that it DOES have less significance than the World Cup final.
Yes, it is clear that the champions are the Italians.

We are still the Champions and be, we will remain the 2nd best team in the world. Congrats to France, but Italy can come back and they'll do just that. Each team has to face each other twice. Still a long way to go.

italy were clearly not up to match fitness because serie a didn't start yet and some great players were not present in the squad like totti, toni and materazzi, etc. This is what caused their loss and the fact that france got that early goal (even though it was clearly offiside and even the commentator agrees it was offside) just wait by october italy will be back!
