Start by writing the numbers in order from least to greatest based on the digit in the "ones place" (left of the decimal).

0.855

5.8
5.08

8.5

Now do the same step as above, using the smaller series and the digit in the "tenths place" (one right of the decimal).

Now do the step again using the even smaller series and the digit in the "hundredths place" (two places right of the decimal) If there is no digit there, you can assume it is zero.

You keep doing this procedure of using smaller series and moving to the right in decimal places until all the numbers are sorted.
