I used to do it when I was a kid. As I got older, it became more like a hug and a "happy b-day." Theres a b-day dinner this weekend. Will it be rude if I dont bring a present? Im 27, hes 25 and we've been friends for about 3 yrs.

If you dont expect a gift on your birthday, it should be alright to not give your friend one.

No, I think thats more of a girl thing. Just to be safe you could get him something that you would like to have for yourself & leave it in the car. If other guys bring gifts...which I doubt, then just run out & get it!

Not necessarily, but it's not out of line to bring him a gift (maybe a gift card to a sportmart-type store)
