Okay. So I went to the ear doctor last month and he pulled this really big thing out of my ear drum and it hurt REALLY bad and he told me to take the drops in my ear and I did. Now I am going back in 2 days and my mom and grandma looked in my ear and they said that they didn't see any scabs or anything bad...just wax and stuff...I really hope that the doctor won't have to scrape in their again...do you think he will? [the stuff he pulled out was over a period of 3 years]

No, he already took off the problem stuff, so go to your doctor he is just going to see if you develop and infection or if there is still a tiny part left over, but the major thing that hurt you is gone.

Go with confidence.

What you had in your ear is pretty normal to have, some people ear's do not have the ability to rid of the excess wax thus causing more wax and buildup. The term in cerebreum plug. If you used the drops as prescribed (and I'm sure you did) it shouldn't be bad. I work in a doctor's office and when I clean patients ears out you should see some of the stuff I can pull out, its scary! Do not use a q-tip to clean your ears out, ever, it isn't healthy. If you feel like your getting build up use a cap full of peroxide or olive oil to help loosen the buildup and then tilt your head and scrape out the excess with a washcloth or tissue.

Hang in there!

Did it look like a cocoon? The ear wig pest will make a cocoon after it lays it's eggs. Larval rates can vary anywhere from 100 to 1000. A telltale sign is if your ears itch or burn.

The larva will work their way up the ear canal into the cochlea. At that point you will start to hear a very slight buzzing sound.

The best cure the doctors have is to numb you ear and pour hot wax into the cavity and wait for 48 hours. The larva will die either from the heat or by suffication. Home treatment is not recommended.

Rest assured this treatment is very effective and only a very small pecentage of the larva make it deaper then the inner cochlea just outside of your brain.

I am quite sure that the doctor will do his best to re-frame from putting you through any unnecessary pain; however, in order for him to see in your ear drum the scrapping was probably necessary. The drops that the doctor gave you should have been enough to loosen any ear wax that may have been blocking his view, either way in order for you to get better he has to be able to do his job. Ask the doctor about ear drops for pain. It would help to numb your ear. He gives them to my children when they have an ear infection. I wouldn't be scared, besides it 's not like your going to the dentist

I have lots of earwax build-up too. Do not put a Q-tip in your ear. People with the type of build-up you have just pack the stuff in there tighter. Just go get your ears flushed regularly by your doctor, maybe at your regular check-ups. Once the build-up is too great, you can't flush it with water either, because that just packs it in there too. When it's real bad, they HAVE to scrape it out. I had mine scraped out and VACUUMED lol.

I cannot state that you had what I had, but I had this HUGE ear wax build up in my ear. After he took it out which looked like a lump, I felt as if I just got a hearing aid. Ask your doc if it was wax build-up.

Sounds like wax buildupo....make sure you always dry your ear after showering and give it a quick clean with Q-Tips......but it sounds like you have nothing to worry about since the doc took care of it....now its time to prevent future occurances.

Good Luck

every time you bathe or shower you should clean your ears with a q-tip to get out earwax or any other dust and particles in your ears if you do this regulary you wont have trouble with your ears and if you swim wear ear plugs to keep out any water or debris from the pool or beach

No, I think you've already been through the worst of it, you shouldn't be scared. It probably won't even hurt this time, the drops should have softened everything up, so it won't hurt.
