One of the major causes of software failing to uninstall is problems with it shutting itself down. Norton will almost completely uninstall if you turn it off first but you'll still have some directories and plenty of registry entries.

McAfee is an absolute nightmare. You have to set all the security up first or you'll never get rid of it. There's a master password for privacy etc that must be configured before you try to remove it.

Once you've managed to get rid of it run a registry cleaner to repair the damage, there will be literally hundreds of errors in there. One thing to remember is that windows has its own firewall and if you're behind a router you don't even need that. AVG is an excellent and free anti virus.

certainly. If its mcafee, you can use the add/remove feature that windows comes with (under control panel).

If it's Norton, go to the website and find the Uninstall program since it never quite installs all the way using the add/remove. good luck.

some programs have there own uninstall icon in thier folder
they should still uninstall through control panel
but you can try this way
go into your c:-program files-then look for the folders of programs you want to uninstall-once in the folder look for an icon that looks kinda like the recycle bin and says unwise for the name. double click that to remove the program.
no promises if it didnt work the other way.
good luck

It depends what they are. Norton is notorious for not uninstalling properly. What programs are you trying to remove?
