Ok i am upgrading my pc2700 to a 1gb memory(internal)- if o remove the chip will i lose everything on my computer- our can i just pull the chip out and still not lose anything???

You can pull it out , you wont loose a thing. RAM stands for random accessed memory. Nothing is saved on there because once you shut your pc off the RAM looses all its info. So dont worry about upgrading it. And have fun with your new speeds :P

Yes you can remove the RAM without losing anything, but for a safety precaution, make sure you unplugged your computer from the power supply before removing anything inside your computer.

The memory doesn't hold anything in your computer, that's the hard drive. Memory is only used temporarily while your computer is running. Every time you shut your computer off, your memory is wiped clean anyway.

Nothing is stored in RAM when your machine is off. Moving the RAM to a new machine won't hurt anything. Assuming that you old RAM is compatible with your new motherboard of course.
