ok first of all forget the "recomended by health professinal" dummy the good old cherry shaped ones are the best (cheapest too) and i know this will sound awfull and others will judge but a tiny bit of strawberry jam works wonders and you anly need to do it for a short while after a couple of weeks hey presto dummy loving baby any more advice feel free to email me renee_sam@hotmail.co.uk i am 26 and have 4 children under 7 i don't know it all but complete strangers comment on my well brought up and behaved kids and lets face it everyone likes to be praised as a parent also as long as your watching while he sucks the bottle to sleep theres no harm mummy is there he'll be fine!

My daughter never took a pacifier either. I tried every brand and she just didn't want one. I am actually thankful that she didn't take one because I don't have to wean her from it. You also don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night just to put the pacifier back in the baby's mouth. I have heard horror stories about that. So, consider it a good thing.

I was having the same problem when my baby was younger (she's 6 months now). What finally worked was that I was breastfeeding and she was almost asleep, eyes closed but still sucking, and I snuck the pacifier in her mouth. She contiued to suck and she fell asleep with it. So thats what I started doing, pressing the pacifier to my breast and she would be in her comfort zone and she took the pacifier in the place of the breast. I still breast feed, but she will take the pacifier instead of the breast when she just feels like sucking.

I wish I'd had that problem!! I just recently (about a month ago) weaned my two kids (14 months and 2 1/2 YEARS) off their pacifiers. If your baby won't take one, that's good!! Saves you the hassle of listening to a toddler scream his head off for his binky. If he's only 3 months old, he probably needs a bottle to get to sleep. At this age, he's probably still waking up at least once a night for a bottle, so giving him one before bed isn't a bad thing. Unless, of course, you're giving it to him on one of those bottle props and leaving the room. But if you're rocking him to sleep with a bottle, that's OK. He still needs quite a bit of formula/breastmilk at this point, and should be eating fairly often. If you KNOW he's not hungry, poopy, sick, etc. and he cries and cries, try buying one of those Fisher Price aquariums that you attach to the crib. They're pretty nice. They play music, the fish swim around, there's a night light, and even white noise.

None of my kids ever took a pacifier. My third took it just a few times in the car but no other time or place.
Try holding it in there for him a bit while he gets started.
Or try directing him to his hand/thumb instead.

What about putting a little bit of milk on the pacifier to get him to take it?

Unfortunately, some babies just don't like em. Neither one of my neices would use one at all. I agree with the person that said to try and hold it for a bit while he gets started on it, but if it doesn't work you may be out of luck. Sorry!

My 3 month old won't take hers either. We decided not to force it. She does at times in the car. I have an 18 month old that won't give hers up for nothing. She wakes up screaming if she loses it in the middle of the night. Don't force it is my advice. We are hoping Ryan won't take one, so we don't have the same problems with her. Some babies just don't like them.

If you want to put your baby to sleep in 20 seconds you must get the "Instant Baby Sleep" MP3 sound track. Here is their official web-site: http://www.instantbabysleep.net
The sound track gently produces energy over the full human hearing spectrum with an embedded pulse that gently eases the brain to the Alpha state well known for drowsiness and sleep induction.

Babies like what they like ..my 2nd daughter hated her pacifer with a passion and would not take it for anything and my 1 st took it for 3 months. I suggest when baby is falling asleep and almost out. Take the bottle away and let them fall asleep on there own in there bed... What I did for Anyssa and it worked...Good luck
