You need to be more specific on what sort of games you are into
But I'd suggest the first couple of GTA (Grand Theft Auto) games, Grand turismo 1-4, Need for speed underground, Halo and Maddan, NHL or NBA games.
These are all roughly $30 Canadian which is like 20-25 UK.

Resident Evil 4 is an excellant game and you can buy it quite cheap if you look in Shop Genie or on Ebay. I got it for my birthday last October and Im still playing it. Once you complete the main game theres 4 mini games to play. its a platform game and the graphics are amazing and the story keeps you hooked. Its has been voted in numerous magazines as best game. Good luck on whatever you choose.

www.thaigame.biz is a good site for cheap games - this is where I get some of mine from however you will need swap magic slide tool for them to play on a PAL ps2 or alternatively an ntsc ps2 which is what I have.

Go to the Game Shop. There is one in most U.K. towns or visit their website. My son always gets his there and there is a huge selection of all types and bargains, including the pre-owned ones.

look in game or gamestation if u have them otherwise try carboots and ebay but i`d go with res evil 4 or gta games.
or do a swap with some mates so you can try before you buy.

depends what kind of games you like... most of the 'players choice' games are good and they're all 20 USD so im assuming good in pounds too.
Try god of war if you like hack and slashes/action
star ocean if you like RPG's
resident evil 4 survival horror
